About Me
Jump to:
Every recipe here is one I'd happily put on my own table. I keep things approachable and unfussy - real food that works on a busy weeknight and still feels good to share. Whether you're after a quick dinner, a dish to feed a crowd, or something a little new to you, I hope you find your next meal here.
Why I Started This Blog
It began with lentils - I was a little obsessed with how versatile and nourishing one humble ingredient could be, and how many ways it could show up at dinner. That was the seed. But cooking for a family every single day has a way of widening your world, and this blog grew the way my own kitchen did: from one beloved ingredient into all the cuisines, comfort foods, and quick dinners that actually fill our plates. What you'll find here now is a home for wholesome family meals of every kind - and I'm so glad you're here for it.
Meet The Family Behind The Recipes
My Husband - My Taste-Tester
"The discovery of a new dish does more for human happiness than the discovery of a new star." - Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin
Left to myself, I'd cook the same twelve dinners forever. He's the one saying "let's try the Moroccan place" or "what if you used gochujang here?" A good number of the recipes here started with one of his nudges - the Moroccan chickpea salad and the Korean cucumber salad both came out of one. Everything gets tasted by him first.
My Daughter - The Foodie
"Food is love made edible."
Her comfort zone is the food she grew up on - a simple dal, rice, and sabzi is still her favorite dinner in the world. But she'll try anything, usually before she asks what it is. She's who I test the recipes on when I'm not sure they'll land: a cold kefir soup on a hot day, a new flavor folded into a sourdough loaf, something with more chili than the rest of us can handle. She'll tell me straight if it's not working.
My Son - The Picky Eater
"I love that my son is such a picky eater." Said. No. Mom. Ever.
If a recipe here has a note about swapping something out or keeping the sauce on the side, that's him. He's the reason so many of these meals come with a plainer version - and cooking for someone who won't eat anything is where you actually learn something. It's also why I ended up writing a whole post of lunchbox snacks for picky eaters.
